The 2019 Nationwide Building Society New Swindon Half Marathon raised over £100K for local charities, if you are taking part and have a cause close to your heart we encourage you to fundraise for any charity you like.
If you prefer to take part for your own personal achievement, you are not obliged to raise any money for charity at all.
A much loved feature of The Nationwide Building Society New Swindon Half Marathon are the charity cheerpoints along the course. The more the merrier! If you would like to host a cheerpoint and entertain the runners as they pass you then please do get in touch to discuss the best locations and access requirements.
We are pleased to be working with the following Charity partners:
GLL, operating under the Better brand, is a not for profit charitable social enterprise committed to delivering a better quality of fitness and leisure for everyone. We’re committed to providing access to quality community facilities – and more – at a price everyone can afford. We aim to get more people, more active, more often. We promote healthy and active lifestyles, giving communities access to facilities that help improve their health and happiness through participation in activities. It could be gyms, swimming pools, ice rinks, trampoline parks or sports halls we have it all.
As a charitable social enterprise, we invest in our communities as we are a not for profit organisation but it’s not just about money: we also invest time and effort in encouraging everyone to take advantage of our services.
We work for the benefit of everyone: the public, the communities we work in, the environment, our staff and our partners. Whether you join us on a pre-paid memberships, or use our facilities occasionally as a non member, you can get fit, stay healthy, and know that you’re helping make a difference in your community. You can also rest assured that any surplus we make now and in the future goes back in to the service as you are buying in to an ethical company. Now, that’s better.
At Prospect Hospice we offer unparalled end-of-life care services for a community of more than 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and north east Wiltshire. Our vision is for excellent, personalised and compassionate care for everyone affected by a life-limiting illness.
Doing it for Dan was set up in memory of 11 year old Daniel Climance. Daniel was kind, caring and loved all kinds of sport. The charity in his name encourages children and young adults in Swindon and the surrounding area to get active and achieve their sporting dreams by giving grants to individuals and teams towards the cost of sports equipment, kit and club memberships.
Our shared vision: Helping young people with SEND to help themselves.
Our Mission: To be a unique, high quality organisation that builds self-belief and confidence to ensure young people with SEND live a rich and meaningful life.
We aim to do this through –
- Supporting Skills for Life
- Enabling Skills for Work
- Creating Skills for Ever
Brighter Futures is the registered charity of Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and supports services at Great Western Hospital in Swindon and in our community health sites across Swindon. We aim to raise funds to support an extraordinary provision of care to our patients.
Our charity funds the purchase of equipment, supports education for our staff, and improves the environment for our staff and patients – all of which are over and above the existing NHS budget. Our vision is to provide the best care possible to our patients, their families and visitors to the Trust, and we rely completely on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to provide that extraordinary provision of care.
If you would like to take part on behalf any of the Charities listed above please get in touch at [email protected].
